Music Tuition

This is an internal band program that i am able to run in a highschool environment. It involves me coming out to high schools and starting contemporary bands/ choirs. The program runs for semester at minimum so that schools are not locked in for a whole year (even though that would be ideal for the students). I would come in about 2-3 times a week depending on how many bands where put together and the class would run for about an hour/hour and a half. I would coach the students in this band setting to help them develop a wide range of skills and enrol them in to as many band competitions as possible to help get the schools name and music program out to public but most importantly to help the students to develop mentally and physically.

 

The Semester rate would be $2000, which is essentially $1000 a term. This works out to be $100 a week and providing I came in 3 times a week for an hour to an hour and half it totals to about $22.22 per lesson.

 

I would try and form three bands :

- yr 7/8

-yr 9/10

-yr 11/12

 

Band members would include:

Piano

Guitar

Bass

Drums

Vocals

Brass (if there is any)

 

These would be formed based on audition. The students do not necessarily have to be apart of the music class but they do need to audition and be of a decent standard. The music would include a range of genres within the repertoire and depending on the level of the band this could be a good opportunity for the students to develop their creativity by writing their own songs and putting them into a real life setting . It is something that could be run before or after school or added in as a class that you, as the teacher, would 'supervise' and I would come in to teach, which is not uncommon as there is usually more student participation because the students are already at school and so still catch their normal transport to and from school at the normal time.

 

This program is great as it allows the students to bond, build their confidence and self esteem , feel a sense of belonging and community  and learn how to be responisble for their own success as well as understand what it is like to work in a team environment. I have experienced these exact benefits myself and have also witnessed them as a teacher and it is such an incredible and rewarding experience to see how a student develops not only in their skill but also as a person. 

 

I do have my own ABN and so I would operate as an external business from the school, I also have my working with children's check and a police clearance so if you did decide to get on board this amazing experience I do contain all the right paperwork.
